Seeking Thoughtfulness
By Patrick
Thoughtfulness, by definition, is considering someone else's needs (At times even above our own). I remember as a child when Daddy would take us Christmas shopping, I often wanted to give things I would have liked to receive rather than considering the wants or needs of the person I was shopping for. As a child that was somewhat excusable but as I look around me these days, I see people moving more to thoughtlessness rather than thoughtfulness. Everything seems to be moving toward what's in it for me rather than how can I help someone else.
Scripture tells us over 100 times not to worry about our needs (God will provide) but, to be considerate of the needs of others.
Matthew 6:28-30 states “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not [l]arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
Doesn't this show us that He is ever thoughtful about our needs? And in verse 33 He explains. That we should be thoughtful of His kingdom when He says, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." He not only sets the priority but also gives us the roadmap to get there.
Seeking however requires intentional and diligent effort on our part. Are we living up to the standard He commanded. Oh, we may be reading scripture ad praying every day, but what effort have we made to share with others? Who have we witnessed to today? Who have we invited to services? Who have we shared with today?
was created more to make us better followers of Christ than it was as an outreach. My prayer is that it will be both but again it is going to require INTENTIONAL AND DILIGENT EFFORT on our part for it to become so. What are you willing to do today to sharpen your edge for Jesus?
Perhaps you could start by visiting the prayer request page and lifting up the needs posted there.
