My Miracle

“But for those of you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in His wings, and you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture” ~Malachi 4:2 I was feeling a little down because so many of my friends would say, “Why does everything seem to happen to you?” I have to admit I was questioning it too. Two years before, I underwent a horrible major back surgery that was, to say the least, more of a butcher's work than a surgery. I was off work for 13 weeks, returning to work on very light duty for the next month. The following year, I underwent a cataract surgery with a sewn in hard implant. Because of complications, I was off work for over 6 weeks. (I spoke of that surgery in another story here on LiveHim.) After returning to work, I developed a hernia in my intestinal area. I asked my doctor if it would get better on its own, and he said no. He sent me to a surgeon who also said it would only get worse if I reclined surgery. He also told me if it popped out during the night, I could die from strangulation. He added, if it popped out more than 5 times a day, It needed immediate attention! I didn't want to be off work for another 6 weeks for something that seemed to be piddling operation. I kept praying and praying the Lord would heal it, not out of fear, but out of His mercy for me. One afternoon at work, I stopped suddenly in the isle to push the hernia back in. My supervisor saw me quickly stop walking in pain and asked me if I hurt my back again. I told him I had a hernia and I really didn't want to miss more work. I told him I was praying the Lord would heal it. He asked me how often it popped out that day? I told him “Today it was 40 times in 7 hours! My supervisor and several of my friends knew it was very serious and needed surgery! Little did I know, the Lord healed it instantly as soon as I said I was praying! He did it for me but also as a witness to all those who knew it was way past the surgery stage time limit. The next day and for the next few weeks, it would feel like it was going to pop out, but never did again! My Supervisor and several of my friends were not Christian, but they could not deny how God healed me on the spot! I thought of it as a little miracle back then, but God doesn't perform little miracles! Soon my supervisor started going to church and reading his Bible as many of my friends started doing! It wasn't long before Hundreds of people at my job heard of the miracle and wanted to talk to me about it! What a witness this miracle made! Sometimes our miracle was meant for others and to draw them close to Him. I still thank the Lord for my miracle, remember the day, and remember the change it made in others around me. “The Son of Righteousness will rise with healing in His wings” and you will go “Free, leaping with joy!” Always remember to pray in “faith” not “fear.” Give the fear to the Lord, then let Him work on your problem from there!
