Caring for Others

James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. Jesus continually commanded us to take care of those who could not care for themselves. In this example He specifically named widows and orphans but throughout His ministry he also cared for the sick, the poor and the mistreated. I understand that here is no way to help every person you encounter but if you trust in the Holy Spirit, He will show you who, when and how you can help them. Our salvation is not dependent on good works but good are evidence of our salvation. James 2:17-18 also tells us that good works are a demonstration of our faith. Honestly, don't we all feel good inside when we have been able to help someone else? Often times we will avoid helping others because it may be inconvenient to our daily plan or schedule, but in the end, you will find it worth the effort, and it can bring great satisfaction and joy to your day. Follow the teaching of Paul in Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Be Blessed today by being a blessing to someone else.
