Good News or Bad News, You Decide.

In John 14 Jesus shares with the disciples that He will soon be leaving them. (Vs. 2 & 19) They certainly did not want that, nor did they understand what He was saying to them. Leaving? How could that be. Jesus was the Messiah, The savior of the world. How could He save them if He left? What the disciples did not understand that the salvation was not from Roman oppression but, from sin. He was going away (dying, the bad news) to pay for the sins of the world (The Good News, which they did not understand). Still, I am sure this must have been painful for them to hear. Jesus, however, knew their thoughts and emotions and told them He would send a comforter (The Holy Spirit), to teach them All things. At that time, I am not so sure they felt comforted as much as they were confused. How could the Bad News be the Good News? The bad news, Roman oppression is still out there. (The World) The Good News "... I have overcome the World." John 16:33. So, if you LOVEHIM, LIVEHIM and His promise is, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him." (Vs. 23)
