Living Water

Jesus Answered, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I give will never be thirsty. The water I give will become a spring of water gushing up inside that person, giving eternal life.” ~John 4: 13-14 Without water, our bodies will whither and die. Without “living water”, our spirit will wither and die. My Dad built our new home when I was about 2 years old. Ten years later, our well went dry. A new well was drilled but instead of pure water, it was reddish in color and tasted like iron and sulfur. The water tasted bad even through a quality made filter. We used to fill water jugs from our neighbor's outside spicket for drinking and cooking. The iron water from our well rusted our sinks. It was used to bathe in and wash laundry. I can tell you, we didn't buy white clothing because rust marks would appear on them after being washed. When my wife and I were 19 years old, my Dad sold me the house I grew up in, bad well and all. After two years, the well went dry and burned the jet pump motor. Dad came up and installed a new pump motor but told us we'd have to have a new well drilled. He decided to try out the pump to make sure it was hooked up correctly. It ran and rattled a few moments, then smoothed out. After the pump had filled the water tank, he let some of the air out, and it ran again until the water tank was full. I went upstairs and drew a glass of water out of the kitchen sink. It was completely crystal clear! I tasted it, and it was like drinking spring water! I drew another glass for Dad and one for my wife to taste. They could not believe how good it was! My wife and I were praying from day One for the Lord to give us good drinking water and he did! We have been married for over 50 years now and all of our neighbors have had new wells drilled. We are still using the one that was once iron but now clean. I've had our water tested several times through the decades and the reports always say its as pure as spring water! Our old jet pump had worn out through the years and the new submersible pumps have been lowered into the well. We burned up one pump before we realized our well only has about 6 to 8 feet of water in it. The Lord had given us what we need but nothing to waste. I thank the Lord every day for putting water into our well. Like Manna from Heaven, He gives us what we need, but nothing to waste. Referring to the scripture above, If we decide physical water is all we need, then our spirits that need fed are getting what the world has to offer; iron, sulfur and the contamination of the world. Jesus wants to give us what we need, pure water to nourish our spirits that will be gushing up inside of us! I've told many of our family members and guest who have visited through the years, the story of the iron water and what we have now. It is a good lesson for all to see visually. I thank the Lord for this miracle because even our plumber of 50 years said it is incredible that this well has kept producing, given the fact it is labeled as “a shallow well.” and has gone through many summer droughts. But the Lord always gives us what we need and prayed for! Jesus blessed our home with physical and living water!
