The Golden Rule

Thoughtful Thursday.

Matthew 7:12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. (NIV)

This verse is the essence of being thoughtful. I believe if this were truly practiced by everyone this world would be very different. The problem is it seems people want to re-write the message as do unto others before the get the chance to do unto you. society in many ways has given up on common courtesy.

On the highways I see people breaking traffic laws just to get ahead of the next person and most times end up at the next light right together. I truly believe that if more people would practice common courtesy on the highway accidents would be cut by at least 50%.

James 4:17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.

Often, we see others in need and turn a blind eye. I understand that nobody can help everybody but there are times that I feel directed by the Holy Spirit to lend a helping hand but there are also times when I just help without even giving thought to it and I confess times when I pass up the opportunity.

I believe God puts opportunities in our path every day as a test and a chance to "store up our treasures in Heaven. Do you do your best in this area or is there room to improve? LIVE HIMgives us all a chance to share god's word and become more Christlike in our helps. I challenge you to share our group with someone new TODAY. You never know whose life will be changed by the helping hand you give them today.
