What is a Witness?
By Patrick Poland
Acts 1:8, But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be [c]witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Here are 4 definitions of a witness.
- A person who sees an event happen
- A person who gives evidence in court
- Someone who can confirm that something is true or happened, And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
- In a religious sense, a person who shares or testifies about their faith
#4 is the one we need to talk about. While none of us has ever seen the events depicted in the bible we can all testify to things in our own lives that we know to be true because we have seen the results.
I broke my neck at age 17 and was told I would never be able to do more than possibly feed myself with my left hand, BUT GOD had a totally different outcome in mind and while i often wish it had never happened the event has given me 100s of opportunities to witness and share the Good News of Christ and the power of prayer. I often find myself whining or complaining to the Lord about my current inabilities but then He does one of two things. He either reminds me of what life would have been like unable to care for even my most basic needs or He shows me someone whose burdens I would not want to carry. (usually, it's the latter and I feel convicted in my ungratefulness)
In my life I have seen prayers answered immediately and some that have taken a long time, but the answer always comes.
What are you praying for today? Be patient, wait in the Lord. Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season, we shall reap, if we faint not. When your answer comes come back here and tell us at LIVEHIM. We all need to hear and SHARE testimonies that will help us build our faith.
