1st Beatitude

The Beatitudes are defined as "The blessings described by Jesus in the sermon on the mount or also an extreme state of joy, being blessed. Many of the beatitudes at first view do not sound like a state of blessedness until Jesus explains the reward. The first of these is Mattew 5:3, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (The complete list can be read in Matthew 5:3-11.) Upon first glance being "poor in spirit" does not seem like a good place to be, but Jesus tells us that theirs is the kingdom of Heaven. The internet defines being poor in spirit as "humbly recognize your complete spiritual need for God, admitting that you have nothing of worth to offer Him and relying entirely on His grace for salvation" Often times we want to be independent so we can do things our way but that is not the correct pathway to eternal life in Heaven with Jesus Christ. This description tells us that we must humble ourselves before the Lord and acknowledge that He is the ONLY way to salvation. You may say I am a good person, I do good deeds, I help others, I am kind but none of these is the ticket to salvation. However, they are a good start to the evidence of being a believer. True believers will do all of these things and more to be more Christlike in our lives. Our lives should be a witness to the world of the goodness of Jesus Christ. LIVEHIM gives you an excellent opportunity and platform to share your testimonies and encourage others to follow Him. I pray God's blessings over you all and encourage you to attend your church service every Sunday!!!
