Miracles

In John 14: 12,we read: “Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and even greater works than these shall he do.” Jesus performed many miracles in recorded scripture and many that were not recorded in the four gospels. I am sure that many of you have heard someone say, “We don't see miracles anymore like we read about in the Bible.” I have probably heard this said more than 100 times and I always reply, “You have the faith to believe what you read in the Bible, but do you have the faith to ask for a miracle, or the faith to believe you can receive one?” The Lord is still working and miracles are happening every day! I witnessed my first miracle when I was 5 years old. In 1960, my grandfather was very sick in the hospital. The surgeon planned an operation to remove a mass found on X-ray. They opened him up, then closed. After he awoke, he was told he was full of cancer and there was nothing they could do. He was told he may have a few days to a few weeks to live. His Son, a minister, and a minister who lived nearby went to the hospital and began praying for him and with him. They anointed his head with oil and continued laying hands on him while crying out to the Lord. My grandfather accepted the Lord into his heart that morning and was healed! The hospital staff was amazed to witness a full recovery. They even X-rayed him again to only find scar tissue where the cancer was before. He was well, full of energy, and full of life. A few days after he was home, the Lord spoke to him while he was praying and said, “I will give you 10 more years to live for me.” And so it was that he walked the streets witnessing to all of his friends, many of who replied “Oh you just have religion.” But gratefully, he continued his witness, singing in church and testifying daily. The Lord gave him his 10 years before his heath began to fail for the next 2 years . During his last moments on earth in mid 1972 he smiled, looked upward and said, “Oh its so beautiful! Can you hear the angels singing?” His face was lit up! Seconds later, he closed his eyes as the Lord took him home... I am using his Bible this morning to quote the scripture above. My grandfather circled the following scripture and underlined it. “And Whatever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do. If ye shall ask anything in My Name, I will do it.” ~John 14: 13-14 The Lord gave him his miracle. This would be the first of many that I have witnessed during my life. I hope to share a few more with you here on “LiveHim.” God does still work miracles for He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. As the hymn goes, “It is no secret what God can do, what he's done for others, He'll do for you. With arms wide open, He'll welcome you. It is on secret what God can do..” Danny
