The Chosen

Today I took a "Day Off" and watched nearly the whole first season of "The Chosen" on video. (If you have not seen it, I highly recommend that you do. You will love the series) I was reminded of John 15:16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. There is something deeply reassuring in knowing that our relationship with Christ did not begin with our pursuit of Him, but with His pursuit of us. Before we understood His grace, before we recognized our need for Him, Jesus had already set His love upon us and called us to Himself. In a world where acceptance is often earned through performance, achievements, or popularity, Jesus reminds His disciples that they were chosen. His choice was not based on their qualifications but on His purpose. The same is true for us today. God's call on our lives is rooted in His grace, not our merit. Yet being chosen is not merely a privilege; it is a calling. Jesus appointed His followers to "go and bear fruit." Fruit is the visible evidence of God's work in our lives. It appears in transformed character, acts of love, faithful service, and the influence we have on others for His kingdom. More importantly, Jesus desires fruit that remains, an eternal impact that outlasts temporary successes and earthly accomplishments. This verse also connects fruitfulness with prayer. As we walk in the purposes God has ordained for us, we are invited to approach the Father confidently in Jesus' name. Our prayers become aligned with His mission, and we experience His provision for the work He has called us to do. Today, take comfort in knowing that you are not an accident, nor are you overlooked by God. You have been chosen, appointed, and empowered for a divine purpose. The question is not whether God has called you, but how you will respond to His calling. Ask God: "What fruit do You want to produce through my life today?" Then take one intentional step of obedience toward that answer, trusting that the One who chose you will also equip you.
