Acts 2:42, And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Please keep in mind I wrote this for a men's group breakfast, but it applies to any gathering for the purpose of sharing the gospel of Christ.
Acts 2:42 paints a beautiful picture of the early church: a people devoted to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. It’s a verse that gently invites us to pause and ask, What brings you here? Some of us come for the breakfast — a simple gift of physical nourishment that quiets hunger and brings comfort, though even good food has its limits. Others come for the fellowship, grateful for conversations that lift the heart, for shared thoughts and shared burdens, and for the chance to notice someone’s need and quietly meet it. Yet fellowship also calls for wisdom, guarding our words so encouragement never slips into gossip.
Many come for the message — the Word of God that feeds the soul far more deeply than any meal. This is the part of our gathering that truly transforms us. When we enter into the teaching with open hearts, listening attentively, we receive the full weight of what God wants to speak. Our attentiveness not only strengthens our own walk, but it encourages the one who labors to bring the Word.
Then there is prayer, the breath of the believer. We all need it daily. Though some prayers feel more emotional or urgent to us, every prayer is equally precious to God. Each one is like a child coming humbly before their Father, acknowledging His greatness and His nearness.
And in all these things, in breakfast, in fellowship, in teaching, in prayer, we rest in the promise of Philippians 4:6-7: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. May that peace meet you in every reason you come, and may His presence be the reason you stay.
I invite you to be sure to attend your weekly services and be attentive the message as well as the messenger. LIVEHIM was created to create an online platform for sharing but in no way can we take the place of your home church services nor do we want to. Our goal is to help you start your day with positive influences from like-minded believers rather than the drama you may experience on other sites. Please take part in sharing what God has done in your life. You never know who your testimony might heal.
Don't just love Him. Live Him.Don't just LVE Him.LVE Him.
