You are the Light of the World

Thoughtful Thursday! What does being thoughtful look like to you? To me, being thoughtful is fulfilling someone's need without being asked, a random act of kindness with no expectation of return. For a time, my sister and her family had come to live with me. My house is not that big, so her bed was actually only a recliner in the living room. There was a period of time when she became very sick and could barely get up out of the chair. She was carrying a high fever with headaches and nausea. When I came in the front door from outside, she was sound asleep. I got a glass of ice water and placed it on the table beside her where she would see it when she woke up and then I went back outside. Later that night she told me that that was one of the most thing that had ever been done for her. Isn't that sad that something so easy to do wasn't the norm but the exception. I had given virtually no thought to the act at the time I did it, but her words have forever held a special place in my heart. She is the last of my immediate family and someone I greatly love and admire. Jesus said, In Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. His point was that we need to share our experiences and let our light "Shine to all that are in the house" If Jesus commanded it shouldn't we practice it? What light are you keeping under the bushel, that should be giving light to all that are in the house? "You are the light of the world..." Let LIVEHim be your house. Share your light today.
